Terms
The short version: bring your own proxy, scrape responsibly, and don't abuse the service. The longer version is below.
The service
SelectorLock is a bring-your-own-proxy extraction API: you supply the proxy and the selectors, we run the request and repair selectors that drift. Rate limits and feature availability depend on your assigned plan — see pricing.
Your responsibilities
You're responsible for the proxy credentials, target URLs, and selectors you submit, and for making sure your use of them complies with the target site's own terms, robots directives, and applicable law. We don't review what you scrape, and we don't take responsibility for how it's used.
Keep your API keys secret — they're shown once and hashed on our side afterward, so we can't help you recover a leaked one, only revoke it.
Acceptable use
Don't use the service to target sites that explicitly prohibit automated access where you don't have the right to override that, to circumvent security measures beyond ordinary selector/DOM changes, or for anything illegal. We can suspend or revoke access for clear abuse.
No warranty
The service is provided as-is. We work to keep extraction and repair accurate, but we don't guarantee a given selector will heal successfully, or that a target site will remain reachable through your proxy — see error codes for the failure modes we already know about.
AI-assisted repair
When a selector needs healing, we send the relevant part of the page to a third-party large language model (currently OpenAI) to propose a fix. That output is provided as-is, same as the rest of this service — see error codes for what we surface when the model's output doesn't parse or doesn't come back at all, and privacy for what's actually sent.
We may change or add to which model or provider handles repairs without changing these terms — the privacy policy is the source of truth for who's currently in that role.
Changes
This is an early-stage product and these terms may change as it does. Material changes will be reflected here with an updated date once we're tracking versions formally.
